M.O.R.P.H.O
M.O.R.P.H.O. A Retro-Futuristic First-Person Metroidvania
M.O.R.P.H.O. is a low-res FPS that bridges the gap between generations, bringing the immersive exploration of Metroid Prime to a visual style inspired by the 8-bit era. Developed specifically for the SUPER NINTENDO STYLE GRAPHICS JAM #2, the game pushes the boundaries of low-fidelity 3D environments.
Theme & Constraints
- The Palette: To capture the authentic retro feel, the entire game uses the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Palette. Every texture and laser beam respects the hardware limitations of 1983, creating a unique "8-bit 3D" aesthetic.
- The Loop (Additional Constraint): The facility is designed as a Non-Linear Loop. Progress is not a straight line; players are "trapped" in a recurring structural cycle where mastery of the environment is key. You will find yourself circling back to familiar rooms, only to realize that a newly acquired upgrade like the Boost or new weapon frequencies now allows you to bypass previously insurmountable obstacles and break the loop.
Features
- Deep Exploration: Navigate a desolate facility on a remote planet.
- Evolutionary Combat: Upgrade your arsenal to take down automated turrets and the ultimate threat: a giant floating eyeball boss with lethal purple lasers.
- Retro-Tech Aesthetic: High-intensity 3D gameplay meets the iconic colors of the original NES.
